Should you be using Hyaluronic Acid?

Alex on instagram asks:

“What do you think about using hyaluronic acid if a moisturizing cream is being used on top? I’ve heard such mixed things”

Let me break it down:

Hyaluronic acid is our bodies naturally occurring lubricator. Like tiny microscopic sponges, it absorbs and holds water. Pulling moisture from the air, your skin, all around it, it can hold up to 1,000xs it’s weight in water. This happening in the top layer of your skin means major plumping and smoothing!

That said, the marketing on products can be misleading. Labels that say "100% HYALURONIC ACID” or even “10%” are lying unless you’re getting it injected (see: Juvederm). This usually means its 10% of their special “complex” that includes HA but in all products it’s going to be less than 1% of the formulation.
So go ahead and layer it in anywhere and everywhere in your skin care routine and makeup!
